Well the next question is what happens when the feds decline to charge and say he's clearly covered by qualified immunity and committing no crime,

Considering the trump administration is already forcing out career prosecutors in Minnesota in mere days who refuse to take investigative stances that trump administration wants them to this seems incredibly likely.

so basically, and correct me now - these restaurants are employing illegal migrants (who may have lived in the US for decades) and as a consequence of the governments enforcement, they have to what, fire these staff members and now hire staff that are not migrants, presumably on a higher salary, resulting in shop closure? am i missing something here or is that it ?

Well, sounds more like staffing issues to actually run a business when 50% or more of your staff don't show up / are in hiding. I am sure the restaurant would love to sell tacos. Guess you could argue, well pay a higher wage and you would have non-illegals applying, but then your taco costs $35 bucks and no one comes anyway.

That is the gist of it. Then there are business owners trying to get ahead of the speculated employing illegals narrative.

"It’s a hard decision. Do you open and hope that there’s community that are able to come out and support the businesses or do you close to help protect your neighbors and your community?"

The owners should see their business license revoked for exploiting human trafficking and short changing their fellow citizen neighbors and peer businesses. If they took PPP, extra punishment. Create opportunities for legal entrepreneur

in fairness now, actually, emphasis on fairness, Yes, they should be shut down. No country should have multiple industries using widespread illegal labor. if people dont like this, then it is the government that should make it legal (if that makes sense). If the government identifies a problem (like this) and sees it as a problem, the obvious thing to do is to shut these businesses down for the reasons you outlined.

when i say : if people dont like this, then it is the government that should make it legal (if that makes sense), i mean, in a situation where the government believes an exception or conditions may dictate a more favorable outcome, fine. which is not the case here.

I mean I think the blame is equally shared with the last few administration spanning a couple decades. Nothing really put a permanent fix in when the illegal immigrant count was more manageable. There is just various temporary status, dreamer, etc. Now the molehill has turned into a mountain.

Tough times. I am in a well off spot. If I saw xyz coffee shop hiring locals I can afford the extra dollars and would spend my money there compared to Tim Hortons stacking 11 immigrants in a 3 bedroom home paying minimum wage.

But I realize disposable income is not so high for the average american to go around doing that.

Tough times, but perhaps we also need to look at why inputs cost so much now especially knowing the bulk of it is automated, and why are farmers screaming they cant make a living. Who is making off with the bag of money along the lines? Bet you could wager a guess and so could I.

Oh. She was there for 3 minutes. Definitely justifies the murder by the officer with a phone in one hand.

Play stupid games win stupid prizes.

Most decent people were taught to approach law enforcement with respect and to not impede their duties. What she did was a felony by impeding a federal officer. Not once. Not twice. She argued and stayed put multiple times after being asked not to. Her spouse exited the vehicle after being told not to then refused to raise her hands when asked because she’d rather hold her phone and film EVEN WHILE her wife in the driver’s seats safety was in danger.

Not only did she get shot because she was committing a crime but her wife should be arrested and charged as well.
