Too lazy to make a new thread so dumping this here.

The fucking mad man is going to start stepping on the military industrial complex toes! Trump threatens defense industry with not allowing stock buybacks or dividends if they don’t reinvest in capex

If it helps, it looks like 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most violent years in the last 80 years on this planet.

this is on theguardian - an english news outlet: European governments have been accused of fuelling Vladimir Putin’s war in Ukraine as new data shows the Kremlin earned an estimated €7.2bn (£6.2bn) last year from exporting its liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the EU. Brussels has pledged to ban imports of Russian LNG – natural gas that is supercooled to make it easier to transport – by 2027 but an analysis suggests there is yet to be any letup in the vast quantities being received at Eu

what we are seeing here is england attempting to stand on the moral high ground. kinda hard when they continue to support ethnic cleansing and what not in Gaza but the more telling point is it shows how fractured the european continent is. we are totally fubar.

Ukraine should stop playing nice and just send all the blackops with a cyanide pill into Russia and take out the oil refineries and other critical infrastructure like water and food sources. Make them capitulate

All these 1/2 measures make me nauseous.

From what I understand the U.S. perspective to be - the idea is that the U.S. is in the process of getting a slice of the pie (rare earth minerals) and won’t pursue the rest of the pie (toppling the Russian government) via Ukraine. There is a framework agreement for the U.S. to access Ukraine’s rare earths, and Ukraine has technically “consented.” All the while, Ukraine is still under attack, holding roughly 80% of its territory, and losing thousands of lives defending itself. Russia controls 20%, and ballistic missile attacks continue, with the outcome appearing bleak - but let’s not dwell on inconvenient facts.

The prevailing narrative, from what I’ve seen in posts over the last few days, is that the U.S. “did all the heavy lifting” and now deserves the spoils. Ukraine is portrayed as a vending machine where military aid automatically converts into U.S. profit. Europe isn’t blameless: it has urged Ukraine to keep fighting, contributed political cover and sanctions, and effectively pushed a no-diplomacy policy that predated the war. Ukraine even enshrined roadblocks to negotiation in its constitution. The U.S. isn’t “deserting” anything. From this perspective, it is simply protecting its strategic interests. It may not have achieved all its foreign policy objectives, but it has secured the rare earths and ensured a few countries now owe it a lot of dollars - all while pretending to be the benevolent savior.

If Europe has a problem with this, it should get an army and go march to Ukraine, apparently.

500 millions of Europeans asking 300 millions of Americans to help with 150 millions of Russians, long story short.

And Germany an ally to Russian oil at least for the beginning of the war.
