They can definitely be wrong, though. You'd know this if you ever watched LOTR or HP.

/e I have a degree in auto body. Plastics were a big part of my training. Because obviously cars are mostly plastic now

It is same HDPE plastic. Specialized gas containers undergo a surface treatment called fluronation to create a permanent barrier that stops fumes and degradation. That must be a McDonald's degree sir.
