New to d4 here, first modern arpg for me. Otherwise die-hard d2 player and first person shooters.
It does feel like a lot of useless complexity and doing 10,376,456 damage is odd, with critical hit when opponent is vulnerable and you are overpowered. Those various terms to detail the excess complexity hurt the brain, but it’s interesting to kill monsters in a new way. There’s a magic to the simplicity of d2 that is ideal, but d4 isn’t too bad when you let it grow on you and suffer through the frivolity of many items/modifiers
Turn off the numbers. I turn them on only during gear changes. Trust me, . lot less clutter and more crisp details.
