I don’t think ram prices are going away in the short term.
Maybe next year or year after when all the ai data centers are built up sure but I’d say if you got the money to make a new system and you want it relatively soon I’d just make a new tower and call it a day.
If you want to save money and you’re satisfied with your pc case and want to reuse parts long as your PSU is strong enough it’ll work.
I had a 5950x/x570mobo/3090 system that I upgraded their internals to the current gen 9800x3d/x870e mobo/5080 system and reused my 1200w platinum psu, case, fans, m.2s, etc.
I just donated my old parts down to my wife’s pc, then her old parts to my kids pc. Everyone gets a generational upgrade that way and “dad” still gets what he wants.
But trying to build a pc today is like comparing it to when Covid happened and global chip shortage happened. Auto prices went up, and are now just starting to come back down to msrp after 4-5 years from 2020. With before that being under msrp.
Don’t get too wrapped up in if ram cost too much, there’s bundle deals out there for like $700 for 9800x3d/b650 boards/ram. <—— this is kind of where you get shafted cause the same price I got an x870e board 6 months prior with the same bundle.
When you’re buying a house, if you’re in the market you’re in the market. You want to wait for interest rates to drop? What will you do if the current 4-5% goes back up to 6-7%. If you’re gonna buy, just buy. Don’t sweat the small crap.
