Education is the core function of 3rd level education. Indoctrination and Debt Slavery are by-products.

purpose overall? making money. they're diploma farms that churn out 10x more of majors that we dont need, and too few of ones we do need, and in the future we'll need a lot less of most of the majors they hand out now.

if you're in business, medicine, law, engineering, etc. Good job. otherwise you should have gotten a 2 year degree in plumbing, im an engineer and even i wish i went that route.

Debt slave for sure

Degrees don't guarantee a job without social networking
Someone who doesn't network shouldn't even bother with college
You probably aren't getting a job if you don't know anyone

Anti social people can enjoy slaving at Walmart B)

I would say indoctrination in our day and age.

First they indoctrinate you, then they enslave you and make you broke ... last but not least, they want you to thank them for giving you an education.
This only applies to a few selected countries.

student debt problem is the result of joe biden being the champion of the bill that took away bankruptcy protections on student and medical debt. republicans also sided with the banks creating the issue that turned many young people against them. there is a reason an 18 year old with no income cant buy a house for 300k but can go to school for 300k cuz the debt never goes away only grows.

also houses gain value over time. so its not a great comparison.

like if you asked me for a loan of $10,000. and i asked what it's for. and you said to buy gold bullion. i'd be pretty inclined to agree, as long as you said that you would sign a contract dictating i get the gold as collateral.

but if you said it was for a trip around the world that would change your perspective and improve your mental health so that you could earn more, i'd be pretty inclined to say no.

there's a reason that student loan debt cant be erased easily, its because it carries no collateral.

Not talking about Ivys , Caltechs, Standfords and what nots.
But shouldn't your public Universities keep cost for citizens at around 8 to 15k Per semester ?
I am not talking about Med School, just basic, Business Management, Econs, Engineering etc etc .

Full tuition for the degree maybe around 70 to 100k USD max with subsidies here and there not inclusive of housing etc etc .

should they? probably. its the how that matters. if they set a price limit i think thats a bad idea, because they'll decide next to put one on gallons of milk, or new cars. and the market will freak out.

if they want to do it the right way they need to put a SAT/ACT testing and/or GPA requirement on federally backed student loans. limit the demand by not giving cash to people who arent good at school.
