Meh. Some fans probably call this a masterpiece. I think it's okay-ish, but so far from the roots of how the movie series started, so it becomes too fragmented.
The acting is okay. Scripting too. The swordhandling is cool. It's an okay movie for non-fans, but for superfans of the old movies, us who grew up with that first movie, i think for most of us it is just not what we want to see. They put the predator in the place of Arnold in the first movie, basically.
Though, i will give them, it is hard to come up with new concepts again and again. So going by that logic, it is not a bad idea or movie.
Hard to rate ..
For non fans of the predator series, or just regular movie watchers, probably a 7/10.
For crazy fanatics, it's probably a 9/10.
For old fans like me, that think the first movie is a near 10/10 old classic, i rate it .. 3/10. I would not miss not seing it if i hadn't seen it and knew what i had in store. And will never watch again ^^ The first movie i could watch over and over just for fun. The opening helicopter scene is one of the funniest movie moments of all time for me. So crazy and ridiculous, in a fun way. And it's mercenaries. Who doesn't like mercenaries ^^
Spoilers!
I guess the old saying is true .. old gold never rusts. They just can't seem to beat the old classics, where there was a true clear line in the movie, and the acting and scripting that did the job. Droids, ai plant beings, and super-mechs fighting immortal super-regenerational beasts, it takes your imagination for a ride, but it stops there. It's not really acting. It's just a pixel show.
