D4 is still in its ripening stage. To ask if its great is equivalent to asking if a fruit tastes good before it's fully ripened. We don't have leaderboards yet, and we just finally got our armory system. QOL upgrades every season. It was released as what I would refer to as a trial beta preview. Each season feels like it's dialing into something I believe will be a stellar game once polished and finished. Is the game finished? Absolutely not. Is it great? That's subjective. I don't really think ANY game compares to the fun we had in d2lod, but we didn't call it a great game until years later and now we're all old farts lol. Maybe the greatness came from nostalgia?
I absolutely love the game. I think it's going to continue getting better each season. Granted I binge 1-2 seasons per year and casually play the rest so my love for the game isn't polluted with over indulgence. The new leaderboard system will be coming out in 2026 (currently the leaderboards have been removed for a few seasons). I believe the guys who found bugs to break the boards got temp bans and they ended up shutting the gauntlet (LB's) down shortly after. That's a smart move imho.
My favorite part is competing on the leaderboards for TOP 10 and earning exclusive cosmetics/trophy's that are rare and make me feel some form of dopamine for obtaining. The TOP 10 players of every season have their names eternally place onto a plaque under "The Hall of The Ancients" so EVERYONE in the world no matter which platform they use can see the OVERALL TOP 10 players. Your name could be up there!

--If anyone is playing D4 solo and wants to join me feel free to pm me. Gaming is more fun for me when its social. I came to this site to make gaming friends more than anything. Trading is just an added bonus. I dislike playing alone. If you're playing alone then you may not enjoy any game. The learning curve is definitely there, granted again, this game isn't quite rocket science. It's definitely a blue collar ARPG hack n slash.
Honestly yes, if you told AI "Make a Diablo game similar to 1 and 2, and nothing like 3 and 4" - it would get better results than any team of modern devs in this day and age because modern devs are not as creative as the 90s-200s, its not even close.
This made me LAWL

I'd place a FG bet on either side. Who's starting Project Diablo 4? (PD4)
