okay I'm kind of concerned that there's 2 different landline phones on that same desk.

Tell me you live in a small apartment without telling me you live in a small apartment. It's your typical multi line phone system. One is a main phone the other is a secondary line which is normaly located at the other end of a house, handy if you have a big/2 storey house and dont want to go up and down the stairs every time the phone rings.

and what exactly does that have to do with the fact that the picture has 2 different phone lines on the same desk?

It's not 2 of the same phone line in different areas of the house, it's 2 separate ones on the same desk.

They are clearly not the same phone.

Then we can arrange a private Indian call center staff in every room for only $6.99 subscription to answer the phone for you.

You know that most of those phones are cross compatible right? They just require same connection like RJ-11 and have compatible (GAP) station
Some models might not be compatible or have limited features such as no caller ID. Its equivalent of plugging an external keyboard to your laptop.

Who knows maybe the kids broke one of the phones and its a just a replacement.
Could have 2 land lines one private one for running a business

Nothing out of the ordinary seems like you are reading way too much into it. Nice try detective kevlar.
