Hello all,
Got some questions for a pub trapper.

1) Is it really worth it to have 70ias on MH GT to counter Arach or what say you?
2) Do you use facets on OH and possibly one on MH? Are they worth it?
3) What is the minimum & desired life after bo?
4) What is the minimum & desired mana after bo?
5) What are the ideal resists after fade? Each can be different. I used to stack light res but what say you? (this is basically vs all)

I'm not a guy that will change gear, just looking for one ideal setup VS all to have some casual fun in pubs. No rep life etc.

P.S. high end equipment is not a problem, any information about pub trapper is welcomed. If you already have solid builds, etc. feel free to share link please.

Thanks so much.

1. Vs some opponents like barbs and any sin that whirls for sure, prolly Tele bowa too or smiters with arach. If you wanna have 1 setup I would get 63 ias claw for sure
2. They’re def worth it but are considered bm, they’re rly good though if you wanna bm
3. Ideally minimum 4300 but all depends on budget tbh
4. As much as you can get while having max res. So get it on both rings and maybe some 20/17 mana sc’s
5. 75@ in hell but at least 95 light resist (to mitigate griffon)

More contributions are welcomed, hopefully this topic would benefit many others looking for some answers for trapper on a pub setting.

1) yes, get 70ias
It’s not only keeping 9fpa vs 10% slow
It’s also 2 faster fpa vs 50% slow (HF, decrep, impale, clay golem)
2x 15ias/15@ is great defensively anyway

2) can be good, but like it was mentioned it’s BM. Kinda easy to stack enough res to counter it, so I’d suggest to get good defensive rare jewels instead (res/fhr/life/mana/rep), to keep your claw legit for GM and it’s practically better anyway against any opponent with stacked res.

3 & 4) I know it can make sense to have a certain threshold so you can tank 1 more hit in X or Y situation. But it works in a controlled environment where you’ll know that people reach precisely this or that dmg with the GM restrictions. But in pubs? Way too hard to come up with a number that could make sense against all builds and no restrictions. So just get the maximum you can get at your budget… no magic numbers here.

5) again hard to call for pubs… some people will play random shit like their pvm fire druid with some 83 fire pen lol
Expect the unexpected, this is the jungle :p
But yeah, generally speaking reach max res and stack light. You could have some 11res scs for fire/psn
Kinda useless to try to stack cold

I found this old guide to have a ton of useful information: https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=637238 and have referred to it many times over the years for strategies and gear suggestions, even though I ran (and will continue to run) a fully synergized traps assassin, as I never really vibed with Venom, but love stunlock->tele with Chaos + traps + open wounds, running Chaos / Fury, Chaos / Jade, Fury / Jade, Chaos / Fool's, etc.

I'm still MFing / trading my way to rebuilding my old assassin, and like you, I don't like gear switches / pre-buffs. Sorry I don't have specific answers to your questions, other than 4k / 700 mana. (SCs with FHR/Mana, FHR/All Res, FHR/AR, or 20/17s.)

P.S. I used to run CoA with 15/15s, and self-found a 2os/10/30 I'll be using. Stacking resists never hurts. Everyone is using Griffs these days, it seems, I just hate to take off the Ravenfrost for CBF, and having good post-Anya resists can't hurt. I did ok with 65 FCR, but that may be a thing of the past.

if playing pubs btw mostly people are gonna absorb the crap out of you btw so might aswell bm them back

i would just go super heavy trap dmg like this:

https://maxroll.gg/d2/d2planner/wbx1m0a6

65 fcr is a bit of a pain, and technically raven + 5-5 facet in griffon would give more damage, but only like 200 more dmg so i guess the +1 shadow sk is nice over that

unless ur just looking for gm 1v1's in pubs ofc^^

19k ls dmg is pretty nasty

Yes! I always thought about a super heavy trap dmg @ 65fcr, but always been told 65fcr is a no go. Yeah 19k is pretty nasty, and life at almost 4.9k is pretty sick too. Only question, is it worth it to sacrifice the 102fcr at pubs. I mean pubs are the bm jungle but people can’t absorb everything at the same time, so majority are playing 1 size fits all.

Do you guys think 65fcr would be a considerable option as 1 size fits all?

I mean you could still go for 102 fcr tbh and go heavy on the facets ^^ your damage will still be high and in theory it would be better but I think this char might be tricky as a pub char as it’s easy to counter. Especially now everyone has endless stash everyone just has absorb gear in shared stash :P and not just a thundergod

I personally got like tg, 2x wisp and a 2x lo 2x topaz 45@ st in stash :P there’s too much space

I guess 102 fcr is still superior honestly. I personally play bladesin for pubs, it’s strong and fun and can’t be absorbed
