I mean I feel like the win was expected, Cuomo his opponent absolutely sucks and is only liked by old people who are dwindling in NYC (they are all moving to Florida for the weather and cheaper prices) - the younger folks love this guy, I am interested to see how it plays out, the odd thing about NYers is no matter how bad it gets, the murder, prices, the poverty... they love it and dont seem to really care, I have to travel there for business and over the years it has gotten so bad I get paid extra because literally nobody wants to go (they will threaten to quit).
I think you are spot on.
Kids grow up in a city like NYC disillusioned with how expensive it all is and in their minds have nothing to work towards. We have a similar thing where i live in Sydney Australia, life is VERY expensive.
I 100% get it why younger people see Mamdani as a solution, but this socialism shit is not the answer, better policy is.
Young kids don't understand how economics works unfortunatley. If Mamdani for example raises the minimum wage to 30 bucks, all hes going to do is create inflation. Businesses will just raise the cost of products to counter for the higher salary. Everything will increase in value, and than $30 bucks wont be enough anymore, it will than need to be $40, than $50 than $60 bucks.....
Its good that there are checks and balances in place for him to actually introduce what we wants, because it will be an economic disaster if he gets what he wants.
