Rotisserie chickens are hella cheap, not the healthiest but they delicious and affordable for sure
It's mainly a vaccine thing for avian influenza.
We have to put down so many turkeys every year because of it, and big chicken doesnt want to pay for a vaccine because they don't need to. When I mean put down, I mean eradicate in a pretty messed up way since they have to kill the virus effecting the farm too.
Broaster chickens don't live long enough for avian influenza to impact them. That's why your rotisserie chickens are cheap af.
Hens are their problem and still not enough to call for a vaccine, that's why last year egg prices skyrocketed, hens have to live their lif span to produce eggs and get effected.
Canadian geese are the prime source of our influenza, migrating south then north shitting on everything twice a year.
Our farms literally have sound cannons they project in the air to keep them away lmao. Can hear them from time to time if you drive out to the Hutterite colonies.
Fun poultry facts for you this morning.
