The orc and elf story has got another twist: for some reason, Russian women are really beatiful compared to their men who look like orcs.

This is sexual dimorphism- you can't tell the difference without it nowadays.
Some women who have moved from other countries find it advantageous to identify as Russian to avoid potential stigma, and improve their professional opportunities. If you know what I mean.

haha no one cares. I work with leftists that are full on #wesupport Ukraine. You can show them this and 100 other examples and it's just cognitive dissonance, has zero effect in their brains. During a press conference in Brussels on 13 October, the journalist asked Pinho: "You have been repeating several times that Russia should repay for the construction of Ukraine. Do you believe Israel should repay for the reconstruction of Gaza, since they destroyed almost all of the Strip and civilian infrastructure?"

Pinho replied: "It's definitely an interesting question on which I would not have any comment at this stage."

A couple of weeks later, on 27 October, Nunziati received a termination letter from Agenzia Nova, a small Italian news agency in existence since 2001.

Would this level of cognitive dissonance be possible without boiling the frog and protective tribalism? We slid pretty slowly over the last ~10 years into bitter opposition to Russia, Obama ran on a reset in relations and trying to be friendly to Putin, up until the Arab Spring. You can draw a line from Obama v Romney debates through Hillary's meddling with his elections, the creation of ISIS and Syrian War and opposing Assad and Russiagate weaponized against Trump and the olympics and invasion of Ukraine up to today. And at some point along that line, the American public became overtly willing to support actual Nazis. Because there's a point where our rhetoric has shifted from denying the Nazis exist, to minimizing or deflecting or rationalizing them. If you go on reddit today and bring it up, the most hardcore warmongers don't even deny the Azov brigade's predilections, they'll just try to handwave it as a local custom born of historical roots that have diverged from the third reich or some other bullshit as if these guys didn't tour-mock auschwitz and hero worship adolf hitler and pass out copies of mein kampf.

If we went up to someone 15 years ago and asked them if the US government should be supplying cutting edge heavy weapons systems to avowed Nazis that use them to murder civilians waving white flags, I don't think you'd find a single person who would defend it. If you make the same claim today, they'll instantly turn to accusations of Russian propaganda, 'its just a minority', 'isolated incidents', 'anyone against russia needs our support', 'we can't judge their culture', blah blah utter horseshit from people guided by tribalism instead of intellect.
