Comparing injuries to obesity is laughable.
Goes to show how defining sports broadly as anything entertainment related has conditioned you all to be unaware or uncaring of your prioritization of profit or dopeamine over safety or social awareness

Stripping should be a sport

If you have a look at the majority of top competitive LoL players they are skinny, not obese. Yes there are some exceptions of course.

Being paid millions in sponsorships and endorsements whilst having millions of people watch you because of your skill in a team based environment would surely be considered an athlete of a sport?

An athlete doesn’t have to fit an ideal of being able to run, jump, have a six pack etc?

Wtf you talking about? Most of people who compete in esports at professional level are average-skinny. There is probably like 1 or 2 guys who are chubby and you are confusing them with some cheeto covered filthy casuals who are spectating from the couch.

Settle down, no need to hold onto your virginity so aggressively
None of those people look fit to me.

Again, the scale is obese or fit
Are you suggesting the majority or league of legends players are fit?

Even skinny people face health problems

Knot tying is stretching quite far from anything I’ve suggested as a sport

But hacky sack I would support as a sport because I’ve played a lot of hacky sack in my day and there was a game we used to play called three hack wack, you would hit the hacky sack 3 times then kick it at someone and if they weren’t able to make a play off the kick (if it hit the body) they were out… was fun and did require some skill and I gaurentee you could put that on ESPN and people would watch it.

But back to knot tying… no I don’t think I could consider that a sport… i guess you could time out who could tie a rope the fastest but it would be kinda stupid… nothing I’ve suggested is dumb… rope tying… I dunno bro

I think stupid is a good metric but hard measure because of it being rather subjective

I think generation of revenue to be a poor metric for acceptable entertainment

You think knot tieing is dumb, I agree
I don't think pressing a keyboard is any more of a sport than knot tieing, I don't care how many dollars they can generate selling the "sport" to consumers

But to be honest I think lol is dumb and I personally judge people who play it in a biased way, I'll work on that.
However defending the entertainment quality to try to argue it as a healthy competition sport seems to be a cope.
Also to expand on my last post

Skinny people who don't exercise regularly , I.e playing 10,000 hours in front of a computer isn't healthy

What % of these "pro" esports players compared to the player base? Less than 1%?
So they're arguing that because these 1% of players that are on tv and paid millions are the rule and not the exception to game play is even more cope.
Knot tieing has a practical use outside of competition
Your keyboard skills don't even serve you in this argument. ( in my opinion prove me wrong )

I think this is your personal own personal scale. Many of the LoL athletes go to the gym and eat well - they literally have chefs and PT’s to feed and train them.

But each to their own. We don’t have to see eye to eye ☺️

Much love

Many of the hand selected people chosen to sell a product to the public may appear in decent physical condition,
135 million monthly players
Around 20k pro or semi pro league players
That's 0.0148148148%

The exception, not the rule.

wouldnt use the term athlete for esports
i would find "professional" as proper terminology
athlete makes me think of physical development

Dude said athletes shouldn't be expected to be physically capable of running or jumping, to be considered athletes.

i mean i would still consider strongman competition to be athletes as well and idk if they put up much numbers for running or jumping
but by dictionary definition its a person who is proficient in sports, so really hes correct
