No worries the build is doing well so far. I just figured maybe somebody comes up with some other ideas.



There's never only one option and I'm considering every possibility I can. Flickering flame is relatively easy to come by. Everything else I'd have to shop and wait for auctions to end.
The biggest upside I see from flickering flame is not even the +3 fire skills or -15 fire res, but the fire res aura. It puts me from 2 fire res to 90. I'd have to use an inventory full of charms to have the same effect.



Phoenix is absolutely great on fire sorc. The main part is the -28 fire res. Since fire sorc does not have access to -res from its mastery like cold, any -res are very important.
It comes with other conveniences as well, such as light and fire max res and a redemption aura which makes playing with it really smooth.
I do think that the only gear parts on fire sorc that are non-negotiable are magefists and phoenix.



Whether one uses a memory or a cta with +es skills is in the end personal preference. Yesterday I did pre tele in TZ baalruns and I used to switch cta with hoto to bo myself.



Again Viper is an item that can be replaced. However it does hold it's own on this build with +30 fcr that are needed for the breakpoint and res.




The issue I have with the setup you posted is that the only source of resistance is viper.
Sure you can get res on any crafted/rare slot and charms, but even I don't think it's easy to max them out.
In the end it's a matter of preference. The current setup I'm using 1-2 shots most minions in 8p T96 except for natural fire immunes which might take 3-4 fireballs.

In terms of damage output your build does most probably perform best.

I was hoping to give you different avenues you may have missed, which of course you had it covered. On an off note, I always liked Phoenix when it was first released, and I got told many times that it was a useless runeword... oh, it is funny how often it is used nowadays.

Question: So you use SoJ for skill + mana right? Ever test 1 SoJ and 1 Dwarf for the 40 life, Magic Defense and fire absorb?
Question: odd one here, but would you change out Maras for Metalgrid if it was perfect Res (35%)? Also has defense

Guessing you use the Treks for the poison res & stats, ever try out Aldurs boots?

So then it comes down to inventory and me being 'Captain Obvious' would be hunting Skillers with either Fire Res or All res, preference for myself in your situation would be fire res.

It is funny how Fire and Lightning Res has always been a hindrance through D2 / LoD & 2dr. anyway, I think any All res SC's being useful, even +3% All res.

Doubt any of this is helpful, just spitting out random stuff, same as my Bow / Blizz Enchantress on HC for LoD ... fun to play, but slow to the cookies.

u wanna play with es anyway so why would u care about res. u got enough psn res from treks and enough fire res from ff. thats all u need m8

and if u rly care about res u can put 3x um instead of rbf.

did I misread this? where can he put 3x Um runes when the only socket item he wears is Vipers (1 socket)? Is Flickering Flame helm a runeword or an item with +2 sockets?
