But alllll of that doesn't matter because Jalen "doesnt make a difference as a passer" Hurts throws the ball more yards per attempt, he throws it farther per pass attempt, he has more TD passes despite Hurts having 32 fewer pass attempts this season than Mahomes (despite Mahomes playing in 1 fewer game too)
So either Hurts does make a difference, or Mahomes also doesn't make a difference. Which is it. 😉
QBR shows us distinctly that Mahomes makes more of a difference, that's why I'm always adding in the other metrics you leave out intentionally.
Its also, obviously, a byproduct of the offense. We run less often as a byproduct of being a west coast offense, which has its hallmark in high efficiency short throws, thus bringing his average down.
Like I know you're not being serious thinking that Hurts has a better down field arm than Mahomes does, because I'd just refer you to the 2018 season when the league wasn't prepared for him like they are now.
No Defensive coordinator looks at Jalen Hurts and thinks "man I gotta scheme up something to stop his arm", they do for Mahomes though, and have since 2019.
