Insane to me to hoard items worth thousands and thousands of dollars only to let them rot till the servers go offline and it all be gone

I never understood collecting stuff in games rather than rl

i still dont understand this, even if thousands is nothing, why not get rid of it when game ded?

Exactly this, even if they like d2, they can just use it to get some stuff in d2r which will be up and running for a while.
