So I got 78 barb in 09 just finished through Hell Baal and wanting to continue leveling and upping my gear. So far I’ve been surprised exp is slower than expected. Tried a couple p8 world stone level 2 and Baal runs and just sort of thought I’d be smashing through level ups buts not really impressive or my expectations were way off. I can’t really touch cows or chaos.

Another weird thing is runes. In the wild I’ve only found up to shael not including forge and countess. Really wondering where all the mid tier rune drops are at? Is this like a known thing about 09?

Another issue I have is it seems like a glitch but my whirlwind doesn’t seem to hit Diablo. I can smash Baal and meph in p8 no problem with immortal king maul and have ok hit chance but Diablo even battle cried I just don’t hit him..

And lastly the drops, I was running meph with suboptimal magic find due to gear but not seeing a lot there. Tried pindle some too. What’s best spot to gear up? Nilathick or Baal?

I haven’t tried this yet but going to try cows players 1 and find item to see if it makes any runes.

Overall I don’t have a Minecraft level of time investment for this but I’d like to “progress” and get some cool nostalgia going

i would make a sorc and do some quest meph runs
- also bugged quest andarial

or run some hundreds of eldrich / shenk / pindel with ur barb and hork them too
or travi
maybe flayer / bloodruns

Yea i think runes were way rarer back in 1.09

The drop rate didn’t become the one people now consider the norm till 1.13
In .09

Lem/Ko/Fal and such id usually do trav and ghosts in tower

Id personally stick to andy mephy diablo baal kills for gearing up
Its what ive always been doing and its not too shabby
Not to mention the essences are quite tasty as well, if they even drop in 09

Ya but it’s manageable in soft core if you’re careful, would be scary in hc though
