Really liked Tyson Campbell but I love the trade.
When Campbell played good, he was great. But when he wasn't, he gave up one too many big plays or TDs.
I think Newsome is a great fit for the Jags scheme. We cleared up some money for next year (probably to pay Lloyd), Newsome is on his 5th year option and Gladstone can decide if he wants to keep him or not.
Besides last week vs JJ, Newsome has been playing well on the outside.
If I had to guess, they'd rotate Brown/Hunter/Jones on the outsides and keep Lewis at the slot.
Jones hasn't really seen the field on Defense since week 1 or 2. Buster is just coming back from injury and did make a nice play in this past game. He has shown ability at times, but also been a liability at times as well.
Lewis is a DAWG and one of the best inside/slot/nickel CBs in the league (can play outside as well). One of the best FA signings in recent Jags history.
Taking money off the books is really the only good thing about this trade IMO. The team isn't salary cap strapped, but if this trade helps make signing Lloyd easier I'm all for that. We can't let him walk in FA.
ETN will be a FA as well. I hate the idea of paying RBs, but I wouldn't be totally against tagging him and using him up for one more year. Let him walk in FA after next season, but I also wouldn't have a problem with letting Tuten and Allen run the show at RB next year either. Tuten has legit speed and is very physical. Allen has already shown that he's a great 3rd down back and a top notch pass blocker for a RB.
