I disagree on this. Israel's foundation is very solid, since the creation of the state there was never a moment to support the notion of weakness. They did whatever they felt they had to, and they have never demonstrated weakness. on the contrary. In addition, apart from this current conflict they have carved out an understanding with the international community. Yes, nations complain about them, but in a few years time there is no evidence to support the notion that Israel will be isolated.
support is a valid point, but the entire nation is a safe haven for jewish people to be isolated safely from those who want to harm them. and the location is in the middle of all of the countries who arguably hate jews more than anyone else on the planet. in south america people likely didnt even know what Judaism is in the 1940s by-and-large, let alone thousands year old blood libel tropes. african nations to this day would lack the ability to really attack a well supported nation. Europe needed to be rebuilt and clearly the post Holocaust education of what the Nazis did rightfully drove massive empathy towards jewish people. etc. etc. etc.
there is one place you could point to a map and say "wheres the worst spot to try this", and they chose that spot. not for safety, or for ease of success. but because the early founders knew they could get more people to move to the holy land, and allies wanted a group that would protect Christian religious sites in the holy land. of course it's well supported, it wouldnt have even lasted 10 years without massive support.
