Looking for reattach my gpu to my VM after driver update.

Hey! When you update your GPU drivers, sometimes the VM’s PCI passthrough configuration or device bindings can get reset.

Here’s what you can try to reattach your GPU to your VM:

Check if your GPU is still bound to vfio-pci (or the passthrough driver).
Run: lspci -nnk | grep -A 3 VGA

Make sure it’s not attached to the host’s GPU driver (like nvidia or amdgpu). If it is, you’ll need to unbind it and rebind it to vfio-pci.

Rebind the GPU manually (if needed): echo "0000:01:00.0" > /sys/bus/pci/drivers/vfio-pci/bind

(Replace 0000:01:00.0 with your actual GPU device ID.)

Update your VM config (if needed).
Make sure your virtualization tool (like libvirt, Proxmox, or ESXi) still lists the correct GPU PCI address in the VM hardware settings.

Reboot the VM and check if it detects the GPU again.

like, i wouldnt go back to reddit ever, the design of that platform has been abused by bots for so long, and now it's all LLM replies over there nowadays..

if you reboot the GPU manually it unbinds the host

it echos vfio

this resets the GPU to time 1:00.0

proxmox is vm hardware so use ESXi

bind the drivers to the 3rd VGA

you get ispci -nnk

this enters you into the VM config

this hacks the amdgpu but only use it if you need to take items from my account

then reattach your GPU to the device ID

this enters you into sys/bus/

then you can take all items from charsi

a flash drive cannot be given numerical ip addresses, so port the dvd in a cd player with usbc cable

this may not be as easy as it looks. just forget usb sticks and ram it into the vga system
