Yeah, that’s never gonna happen. It’d just confuse the mods if they ever had to check them. If you need these transactions to show what they’re for, just ask the sender to label them “Bug belt” or whatever. If the sender leaves a strange comment, perhaps d2jsp could add an edit button that requires confirmation from both parties within a 24–48 hour window.

This would make things less confusing for everyone.

Voted yes. I don't really see a down side.

Giving users the ability to add their own comments to incoming gold transactions in a separate space, like you've suggested, is harmless, and very helpful.

Can't tell you how many times I've gone back through months/years worth of transactions and stared blankly at the ones with no comments. Trying my hardest to remember what the trade was, even though I know I would not remember exactly lol. This would certainly fix that issue. Or at the very least would place the burden of responsibility on every individual user. Where it truly belongs.

Thank you both!

Exactly!

And with a one time add of like 30 mins after recieving the gold. You have your shot to make things easier for yourself if you wish to.

and if you're paying attention to your trades, when people leave it empty or write a useless comment, you can easily help yourself (and the moderators in case of a S/A case) to scroll through your goldlogs while having people always post in your/their topic, investigating wise it should be a win for everyone ^_^

1. Private comments could make it harder for everyone (including mods) to confirm what a trade was actually for. This could be a problem in scam reports, especially if an item disappears during a dupe test after a couple of weeks/months.

2. People might use the private comment space for venting, insults, or jokes that would never be appropriate if visible.

3. Imagine someone gets banned for buying or selling forum gold, and they’ve left a note like “$$$” on the transactions between you and them, but you can’t see or report it. That could end up triggering an investigation on your account, too.

Long term, even if this feature sounds good, it’s gonna cause big problems in the scammer accusation section. Any edits or personal comments should really need approval from both sides :)

Not trying to hate on your idea, @Magisk ... It’s actually a good one, just needs a bit of tweaking. I’m not sure how d2jsp is these days, but back in the day people did all sorts of dumb stuff, calling everyone a multi, sending weird FG logs, and so on. So maybe I’m just stuck thinking it’ll get abused more than it’ll get used.

1. If you follow the recommended trading manners, they will be able to trace your trade with a trade topic/post in a trade topic.

And if someone put in the correct comment, you do not need to comment yourself.

2. Since only you would and mods would be able to see it, I guess mods could review it and take actions if needed.

3. If that was the case, both should be investigated and if evidence of such is sufficient, yes actions should be taken.
Refer to 1. - Make sure your trades are done properly.
But if there’s no evidence of such offense, I see no reason for anything to happen.

That’s how I see it

Just loving the idea of being able to add a comment for myself (and mods) for when the comment is left empty

Guess it’s up to Paul to decide how it should turn out if it’s happening.

Yes, but this would create a lot of unnecessary work just so you could add a personal comment to someone else’s transaction. Users shouldn’t be able to add notes to transactions sent by others. You can add your own note to forum gold that you send yourself. :)

Another idea is to make adding a comment mandatory before sending forum gold. That way, there won’t be any blank transactions, and people will usually note what the transaction was for, making it way easier for buyers and sellers to find later.
