Thank you both!Voted yes. I don't really see a down side.
Giving users the ability to add their own comments to incoming gold transactions in a separate space, like you've suggested, is harmless, and very helpful.
Can't tell you how many times I've gone back through months/years worth of transactions and stared blankly at the ones with no comments. Trying my hardest to remember what the trade was, even though I know I would not remember exactly lol. This would certainly fix that issue. Or at the very least would place the burden of responsibility on every individual user. Where it truly belongs.
Exactly!
And with a one time add of like 30 mins after recieving the gold. You have your shot to make things easier for yourself if you wish to.
and if you're paying attention to your trades, when people leave it empty or write a useless comment, you can easily help yourself (and the moderators in case of a S/A case) to scroll through your goldlogs while having people always post in your/their topic, investigating wise it should be a win for everyone ^_^ 1. Private comments could make it harder for everyone (including mods) to confirm what a trade was actually for. This could be a problem in scam reports, especially if an item disappears during a dupe test after a couple of weeks/months.
2. People might use the private comment space for venting, insults, or jokes that would never be appropriate if visible.
3. Imagine someone gets banned for buying or selling forum gold, and they’ve left a note like “$$$” on the transactions between you and them, but you can’t see or report it. That could end up triggering an investigation on your account, too.
Long term, even if this feature sounds good, it’s gonna cause big problems in the scammer accusation section. Any edits or personal comments should really need approval from both sides :)
