https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cx2rdlj8ejgoMoldova has made a clear choice of Democracy, Freedom, Liberty and the European Way.
The Pro-EU party has won its very legitimate and democratic elections
after all the pro-RU parties were banned and the
hundreds of thousands of Moldovan citizens who live in Russia were disenfranchised.
This is a great win for democracy and anyone who says otherwise should be shot
The article explicitly mentions that the biggest opposition party in Moldova is pro-Russian. They received 24% of the vote. Their leader claimed victory before the results had even come in and egged on his supporters to demonstrate outside of parliament.
According to the latest Russian census (from 2021), there were around 77k Moldovans living in Russia. [1]
Likewise, the breakaway province of Transnistria has a population of 360k. So even hypothetically, if both groups were 100% disenfranchised and would otherwise have had a 100% turnout with 100% of their vote going to pro-Russian party, the numbers would still barely add up to erase the 411k lead the pro-EU party had in the official vote. With an actual turnout of 52% and with the pro-Russian party only winning the official votes we have out of Transnistria by a 51-30 margin [2], it's completely unrealistic to claim that the pro-Russian side would have won this election if not for the disenfranchisement of their voters.
