Largely agree with this. He's a solid #3 or #4 pitcher. The Phillies know that, but with wheeler gone and nola sucking, he's up
He does have a sub 3 era if you take off the 20 ER over 5.2 innings, but I don't agree with dm there. You can't just pick and choose which games to count lol.
Nobody disagrees with him being a mid rotation guy, he's their #3 right now which is fine. This rotation is deep, so they can handle the Wheeler loss better than most could. He has great stuff, but he's very inconsistent. But this start makes all the sense. Start him at home, give Ranger the road start.
Look at Luzardo's home numbers this year as well. He had the one start where he had 12 ER's over 3.1 innings. Tipping his pitches, he got absolutely shelled. But over the other starts he posted very good numbers which is the norm. Not to mention Luzardo had a 2.14 ERA and a strikeout to walk ratio of 36:1 over his last five outings at home.
Offense still has to show up. Luzardo may keep the Dodgers at bay, hopefully, but offense needs to fucking shown up consistently otherwise it doesn't matter. We can't expect him to shut them out lol. A quality start would be nice but scoring on Snell isn't exactly an easy task.
