I didn't give a fuck and used collectivos and travelled to all the spots in-between Cancun and Tullum. You just go out on the highway and stick your thumb out and the white vans will stop and you can climb in. Mostly workers use them but you can too if you are not worried.
Decent snorkeling at Akumal, I took a boat out at Tulum and did snorkeling there looking for rays and other things. Did the under ground caves / cenotes, took the boat over to cozumel for 2 nights, paid a taxi driver to drive me to the other side of the island and asked if he would come back in 12 hours to get me. He said sure and gave me his ID to hold onto as collateral lmao.
I just sayed in random airbnb's no resorts, went way from tourist areas seeking food and things, after dark I stayed closer to my airbnbs.
Had to bribe my way out of going to jail once. Cops took all the money I had on me. My own mistake, and stupid younger self. Was 9:30 at night and I really didn't see a place to go to the bathroom, so took a piss in a bush, 3 flashlights instantly on me. I am sure they get a lot of fuckwad dunk tourists pissing everywhere so I don't blame them. All I had on me was like 3500 pasos though or at the time like 15-20 CAD. But that satisfied them. Cuffs out and all.
Yeah im paying to stay at a fairly nice resort. The all inclusive was $3200 for the 10 days - so ill probably mostly hang out around there. Good call on the snorkeling and cenotes - ill check them out for sure.
I will make sure I dont piss in public. Definitely not something id even think about given how you and I live lol. Pissing in the bush is just a given up here!
Last time I went to Cancun some dude broke his legs parasailing. That being said, Chichén Itzá is about two hours away and a must-see, you can get a tour relatively cheap. Tulum also has some nice ruins and archeological sights. There were some cool tours in Playa Del Carmen nearby (ATVs/Buggys in the jungle, swim in cenotes). If you wanna try something nice I really enjoyed Navios, food was great but the view in the lagoon was out of a movie really.
I will make sure to get travel accident insurance then lmao. Im sure 2 broken legs in Mexico wouldnt be cheap at all. Did he just come down and hit the water too hard?
Im not too enthralled by ruins or anything, but if I need something to do im sure it would be easy to set up an excursion out through the resort.
