In one society, terrorism is dominant, freedom is near inexistent, uncivilized/barbaric behavior is normalized. By contrast a flawed but civilized society provides stability and mechanisms for change. Even if its government makes poor decisions, the presence of order, freedom, and human decency creates space for reform, dialogue, and hope. Civilization, though imperfect, nourishes the possibility of improvement; terror and lawlessness extinguish it.
users have already responded to this post. however, the actions by israel in the west bank and gaza are clear challenges to your assertions. i accept "flawed" but i do not accept "contrast" in the context you have provided. its difficult to reconcile your post with what has been happening in gaza and the west bank.
