You... You do realize that universal healthcare has been proven time and time again to be much cheaper than privatized insurance, right? You might want to look into it.
Except it hasn't. In fact numerous cases where universal healthcare has broken down with failure to deliver benefits or moves to socialize healthcare have skyrocketed prices, most obviously the ACA as an example. Premiums tripled for a lot of people who lost their doctors anyway, thanks Obama. How much of that 400b income for unitedhealth is coming from taxpayer subsidization right now?
There are obvious pitfalls on the way to a
functional socialized healthcare system and the democrats have figured out how to step on every rake. You can't massively expand benefits being paid out without offsetting it with increased revenue, and the uninsurables and ER walk-ins put vastly disproportionate strain on limited resources. Yet just 5 years ago, every single democrat on stage for the last real presidential primary raised their hand to say they would provide taxpayer funded healthcare for illegal aliens. Which is moronic.
We need to actually cut the costs, which could mean nationalizing the production, nationalizing research, providing the interventions that would lead the populace away from being fat and lazy drug addicts, and cut off the services we shouldn't be providing.
