The rates of violent crimes in the US are entirely stratified by race and not any other social metric- like gun ownership, poverty, policing, social services, etc
Jackson Mississippi reached a 104 per 100k homicide rate in 2021 with a 79% black 16% white population average income $27k. South Burlington Vermont had 0.00 homicide rate in the same year with an 85% white, 8% asian, 1% black population average income $51k. And there were also zero murders in Long Beach Mississippi in 2021, a similarly sized city with a 77% white, 8% black population with average income $35k. You can compare and contrast demographics in whatever random locations its always going to boil down to race, rates are always black >>>>> hispanic >> white > asian/islander

I’m tapping out of any race discussions lmao I was just wondering if that’s what he was implying.

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

To be clear, Sirthom is implying it because he's a racist, I'm implying it because I'm a realist, and there's a gigantic gap between

Don’t get pissy because you didn’t understand his initial request and wasted your time on a long-winded post. It would be relevant to see if gun ownership leads to more violence in general, not just gun violence, because obviously it does. Do you need a peer-reviewed study to figure out there are more car crashes in the US than there are in Nauru?

I am wondering at this point if this is satire? Because more cars lead to more car deaths, it is irrelevant that more guns lead to more gun related deaths, and that's your argument? Again, you can compare violence statistics between countries to find the answer of your question, and, again, it is quite irrelevant in this dialogue. But help yourself if you deem it necessary..

/tbf I'm sorry I paid the man the respect of assuming he asked the more relevant question. I should have known better, I guess? :/

Not that it’s irrelevant, it’s just expected. You focus on gun violence instead of just violence. We can compare violence between countries and see for example that Serbia, Switzerland, Finland, Austria or Iceland all have rather high gun ownership figures (30-40%) and very low intentional homicide rates (around 1/100,000). On the other hand you could look at Jamaica, South Africa, Haiti or Mexico who all have less than 1/3 the gun ownership rate of the first group and 25-50 times the homicide rate.

You should have read the question he asked instead of answering something else and getting angry when people point it out.

Oldest story in the world, conservatives claim guns save lives, meanwhile uvalde had more than THREE HUNDRED guns and not one of them saved anyone, meanwhile here in australia we are on year 36 with no school shootings.

School shootings are a cultural thing not really a gun thing. School shooters are basically the modern version of serial killers which were way more common back from the 70’s to 90’s.

Just my opinion though. I believe each generation will deal with its batch of terrible people causing harm in particular ways. Unfortunately the shootings we have today are the popular method currently.

We had thirteen mass shootings before gun reform.
Zero in 22 years since.
