Hey, I havent played in a while and I just wondered if my 16k fgs would be enough by the current market to build a full pvp sorc (aiming for an svs build not sva). Im not looking for top stats but just smthing having all the needed breakpoints and good enough to have some fun dueling other sorcs.

Am I delusional or is it doable? I would love to try this obsession fber sorc

This is for non ladder d2r

In SvS, the difference between 16k budget and 100k is just 1 more hit you can tank.
As long as you have the basic gear, you’ll reach same dps but just have less overall life/mana in the end.
That final min/maxing you can get with ultra high budget helps a bit your win rate, but it’s far from as impactful as on a melee build.
You can still easily outplay other casters with much higher budget.
In melee duels, you basically instantly lost if you get into a fight with such a huge budget difference.

So spend that 16k
Practice a lot
You’ll make some full grown man cry cuz they lost against you on their 200k fgs build

I'm currently using this build. As a Sorc, of f-ing course I'd be r*ped by very good casters and people who stack >400 cold resist,
but rest assured that you can at least have a chance vs charge-din, barb, and people who cannot maintain their power while stacking cold resist.

ES 75 absorb max block Blizzard
Rare circlet: 2 sorc skills, 20 fcr, 20 strength, resist etc... at least 1 os - Shael
Viper Magi - max flat mdr - 5/5 cold facet - or 7 fhr/9 dex/9 strength
Perfect Fathom - 5/5 cold facet
2 SOJs
Rare amu: 2 sorc skills - at least 15 fcr - strength - dex - bonus life, mana, resist, you name it
Arachnid Mesh
Stormshield - Eld
Boots: 2 options here - Shadow Dancer gives you some nice fhr and dex, but you would have to put more points into strength. In the end, the number of points invested should be similar to Treks, but Treks also have very high poison resist.
Items: 1 fhr cold skill GC, 8 cold skill 40+ life GCs. For SCs get 7–8 × 20 life/17 mana and some 5 fhr/5@ or 5 fhr/17 mana if you need it for fhr. Torch, Anni.
Swap: CTA - Spirit. You would also have to precast with Memory with +9 ES.
Max Cold Mastery, Blizzard, synergies. Max 20 Telekinesis and no points into ES.

In this way you should be able to survive vs both casters and melees, while still maintaining about 2k HP/3k Mana after BO, -250 cold resist, and 11k Blizzard damage.
Ofc, as I said, good casters and people with 400 CR stack and Trapsin will still decorate your face with a black eye. But at least with this build you're kinda viable in pub
