It seems the days of america being flooded with tons of drugs are coming to an end along with the cartels who push them.
what do you guys think?

Pete Hegseth:
"America’s article 5, “ An attack on one American is an attack on all.” This is how, and now are going to look at Fentanyl being pumped into our country. It’s classified a drug, it’s really poison and it killed 400,000 Americans during Biden’s tenure. We are under attack and we finally have a president who recognizes it as such. It’s time to go on offense, vaporize the cartels, eliminate the source. Thank God for delivering President Trump to us, he is not afraid to Kall it out for what it is, a threat to all Americans. The cartels will feel the full force of American might, the Secretary of WAR has you in his crosshairs."

And it will just all come from elsewhere. The war on drugs will fail over and over just as it did in the past as long as there's the huge demand that exists in the USA.

I suspect demand will only increase as financial hardship remains as it is with increasing prices of food and daily necessities while entry job market jobs go the way of robotics and AI.

Were in the early stages of a dystopian future with a massive wealth gap. Drug use will remain high with further increases coming.

Are you sure that poor people use drugs or do drugs make people poor? Maybe a little of both?

Everyone I know who has vices, are always complaining that they’re broke - even if they make similar money to me. I meanwhile am more than comfortable and can afford to buy pretty much whatever I want, whenever I want it.

It's both. Certainly people who make poor choices fall further from their current position and there's those with nothing to lose that drown themselves. Then you have the wealthy and upper middle-class using for recreational purposes.

And where demand exists, drug trafficking will find a way.

I'm for the death sentence for drug traffickers.

if you have honest people doing it , it can be done imo.
But the 1980s war on drugs was not to stop drugs it was the cia taking over the drug trade , then they purposely flooded the u.s with drugs imo.
but this time i think its actually going to happen, but time will tell.

Perhaps if legalized drugs in US competed at the price points of illegal street drugs then it could realistically stop. For example, can now buy weed in Minnesota legally (yay). But wait, why would someone pay $400 for an ounce when they can get it $240 from their old dealer without extra fees, tax, etc.

As far as I know this didn’t work so good in Quebec. The prices are rather similar for legal weed and "street" weed, so the illegal part slowed down for weed. Your "friend" who sold an ounce a month just stopped, the serious dealers just sell fent instead.
