Glad we can find common ground. Also end the trucking industry once the rail system improves. No reason why giant death machines drive on roads with normal people. Sadly no politician will go against unions that protect out dated ways that hold the country back.

Oh I don't know about that, union abolishment/decrease has been pretty significant since 1980 and in reality that's a very small window of time to present day.

thats true but i think its more of our current day politicians being spineless. trump went back on his word about deporting when a few farmers got mad. think about an entire trucking industry gone overnight. innovation will always take jobs.

Great solutions guys let’s ban anything dangerous and we will all travel in padded inflatable balls so no one ever gets hurt by anything. Let’s all be completely dominated by our government because they know what’s best for us.

Awesome plan.

Those countries are also a lot less free. Would you like to get arrested for posting on Facebook like in the UK?

I would then argue that giving up a little freedom to stop school shootings from happening is not a bad thing, and I would argue that social studies don't show improved quality of life in the US in comparison to, for instance, Denmark. Furthermore, I would argue that posting certain things on certain media does still get you in trouble in the US - especially now, when the biggest social media platforms are all owned by the same handful of people.

Someone else mentioned that having an armed population is protective against foreign invasion. I would argue that the cold war showed no such protective effect, in fact, those were amongst the most tense times. One could also make a case for the lack of adaptiveness of firearms against modern warfare, such as drones, but I personally find that a weak argument. Firearms still very much have a function in war in 2025.

We need to ban all cars since deaths related to cars greatly outnumber guns. It's the cars fault not the person driving it

Have you a source for your numbers? iirc the gun and car related deaths are not that far from one another in the US in most years (I do think the vehicles are currently winning in that they cause more death atm, but curious how 2025 will turn out lol).

The same people who claim they want to protect children also are against putting an armed guard in schools. If they really cared about kids, they would put in an armed guard - while still trying to get more gun control passed. If they really cared about kids, they would take advantage of every opportunity to protect them, but they don’t.

Also no one here gets in trouble for their posts by the government. Freedom of speech only really ends at threats or inciting violence, anything else is fair game typically. If your private business wants to fire you for any reason though, they can.

Is there a correlation between gun ownership and homicides?

I haven't seen this answered.

You will have homicide with or without guns. That’s why the UK now bans certain knives. The real question here isn’t really about guns, it’s about how much youd like to allow your government to oppress you.

You can very easily put armed guards into schools. The problem is that democrats won’t do that, because they don’t really care about protecting children, they just want control over the population. You can protect kids WHILE trying to get more gun control, instead of using kids as political pawns.
