So I ordered another C8 and looking to get exhaust done on it.
Job is Exhaust, front Lip and High Wing Installed.
The Exhaust and high wing both require the rear bumper to be removed for install, so its smart to do them at the same time.
I have 3 people I have talked with about doing the work
One guy is an hour away and said its an over night job. While they say its only 5.5 hours, they wouldn't advise same day drop/pick up. but they have a good reputation and come recommended by several guys on corvette forum who have had them install parts on the C8. They charge $160 an hour.
But I would have to have someone drive me there to drop off, and drive me there to pick up. Kind of a pain in the ass.
We have a local guy who runs a classic auto repair, with newer stuff as well. They are $99 an hour, 2 miles from my house. So I can drop off, walk home if needed or walk there to pick up if they dont offer a ride. But, they said they havent worked on a C8 so wouldn't quote how long they think it would be to do the installs. I feel like they are newer, like 3 years in business in town. but they have cars for sale and have storage for rent for people. I was just in their building on Tuesday, they probably have 100 cars for Sale or storage inside.
I also have a guy I went to high school with, hes worked on cars since then and bought his own shop a few years ago. hes also $100 an hour in town, like 3 miles from me. But same thing, he has never worked on a C8.
Im not saying the C8 is an exotic, but being mid engine with knowing the bumper has to come off for the installs and the exhaust comes with simulators to make sure check engine lights dont flash once the car is started up I am a little worried to go to the two guys who havent done a c8 install yet. But also, if the one guy is 6 hours at $150, thats the same as the others being 9 hours on the installs. I cant imagine them being that much longer on the job. But being local and not needing to waste 4 hours driving there and back would also be a bonus and worth almost another $100 in time/gas/payment to a buddy(lunch)
Basically, what are you guys thoughts? Who would you take the car to to get the installs done?
