How is a scam like this happening? Users see a high div item go up for sale on trade site and try to front run with a similar item?

user is explicitly telling me he will put "XX item in trade box", I go to his hideout with someone else in there, constantly spam opening trade box putting in the same item in the box.

This was a manual trade, along with probably inside information - I had a same experience with this user, Whispered a specific item to trade, then they proceed to send the trade invite of the correct item (All with immediate timing)
Then DM'd me acting confused and waiting one minute and saying wait wait wait

Sadly, I was scammed a day earlier so I was already on High alert and waiting for them to specifically confirm and send first before I even accepted, but this could have easily went south for me.

From what i can tell as i was involved with 2 trades that this happened and one went south unfortunately. I setup instant buyout 3-4 days ago and since then ive noticed the odd person lingering. First day i blocked a guy with ornaments as didnt understand what was doing there until the instance of a scam happened. This instant trade thing is a flawed system as it gives anybody access to your HO now. (Wont be using this at all anymore thats for sure) i feel bad about the whole situation as i try to do everything right. ( only trading with older accounts, no talking in game etc, using caution on details)

Theres no way to prove in any way that i wasnt involved somehow but i would hope that my reputation of trades as minimal posting as i do (even paid for someone else to get items before out of just wanting to help) would atleast show my character.

I will say this though as stand up of a guy DrNazty is and has expressed he wont be losing sleep over it. I on the other hand have and i sincerely apologize if any of my actions led to this somehow.

How do you explain them sending the exact correct item, that was only shared in private DM, as well as the accurate timing for everything?

Well thats where it gets even more confusing. The doc trade buddy traded him a belt but wasnt the exact belt or naming convention on belt.
How these guys are able to do all this so quickly is beyond me as i make the link literally seconds before sending and i keep the stash 3 screens away from wp and they have to have you on screen to trade if not in party.

900k and u go 1st kinda lured ur self into it, ive had multiple old accounts pull off 300-500gold scams on me and since then i never trust old inactive accounts anymore, if i am in the position i never go 1st since scam accusations never gave me any clouser even though i tried twice, one of the clowns that scammed me even got me banned because i posted screens on trade on the thread, its also a good idea to be extra careful in poe trades since they are many other places he can flip them on
