Hello everyone, what do you think about religion in schools?
I can only speak for my kooky self when sharing that religions can be taught under several class identities, e.g., history, anthropology, philosophy, poetry, and even linguistics. As an outsider looking at the many religions and spiritualities and if I can gently place aside the real world conflicts that can and do happen between people of faith, I wish to share that religious and spiritual writings, storytelling, allegories, metaphors, moral expressions, and even the nature of either the higher power and/or the nature of the gods and goddesses depicted by various faiths are wonderful literature. But, this is a real world and people do harm each other because of possessing different beliefs or no beliefs at all.
So, my little thought is: Teach religious texts as art.
But, hey, someone somewhere will make a decision and I am but a little voice in what is a humongous room for discussions.
