I’m confused as to your confusion. Someone on Twitter said something about Kirk without bothering to confirm if it was, you know, actually true. Then Stephen King tweeted out the exact same blatant lie, also without bothering to confirm if it was, ya know, actually true. Hate first, facts second.

You missed the part where he apologized and deleted the tweet

That is the best possible action you can expect from someone who makes a mistake. If you are saying that guy encapsulates the left, you're implying that forgiveness doesn't exist and you might as well fight to your grave instead of trying to course correct

And they know it's unhinged cause they didn't have the balls to post it in the thread.

Naw he must have had another.
A couple years ago, the rules on PARD changed so you can only post here with 0% warn. It happened in the thread about the pedo on trial in Minnesota, where we opened the civil liberties can of worms because he was banging girls above the age of consent in Minnesota, so they charged him for soliciting prostitution even though he never 'paid' them. Instead took them on shopping trips, gave them 'gifts', specifically to circumvent the law. And that makes a big problem since you could define most dating as a quid pro quo in some loose sense, and there's no age limit to such statutes, consenting adults in healthy relationships could be charged under the same precedent. And pointing this out led to a bitter back and forth over 'defending pedophiles', which spawned a whole bunch of hate threads, drama, people trying to doxx and witchhunt. Resulting in a massive banwave and rules change to make us less onerous.

He and millions like him formed an opinion based on some cognitive bias that's not rooted in anything real. For most that's not a big deal, they'll move through life with this bias but not become violent, but there will always be a subset of the population that's not discerning enough and actually believes it especially when the MSM and social media amplifies this type of stuff. For about 10 years now really famous people, well educated have been non stop labeling other nazis, arguing such people deserve to die for their words, and so on. So don't be surprised the crazies that have been fed this actually believe and are acting on it.

If you're suggesting we should regulate social media to label misinformation then i would agree. The last time people went crazy they tried to violently overturn an election that their guy lost fair n square.

I’m suggesting not inflaming the country by calling people you don’t like Nazis.

Do a thought experiment go downtown Toronto dressed as an obvious tranny and try to speak to people. Do the same dressed as a preacher holding a bible. It’ll become immediately clear which side has become unhinged and resorts to violence over nothing.

I never knew Kirk was so popular. Good thing empathy is a loser emotion.

King did the right thing correcting himself. That is something good n the current political climate. Are you suggesting we should be shaming those people instead for not verifying beforehand even after they've apologized?

People watch long enough and that preacher is getting at minimum verbally abused within a few hours. Realistically odds of him getting assaulted even after only a day are very high.

He did the right thing in apologizing. He did not do the right thing in posting bullshit about a dead man to justify his murder. Somehow you seem to be struggling and overlooking the latter.

It's like the story of trying to collect feathers from a pillow after the wind blew them away. The media wants to now pretend that after years of calling people Nazis and justifying violence against such people had no impact, even if the initial accusations are know to be bullshit.

Yes absolutely shame them. Its not some unforgivable sin, but its still a harmful and careless act and an apology and retraction doesn't wipe it away. Someone should have it as a minor black mark against them and have a little reputational harm of their own, a little less credibility. He done bad, now get back to writing. Its far worse for journalists who should know better, and spent the past 10 years spraying dung out of a hose, and should lose their jobs for it. But generally, the parable goes like this;

It's like the story of trying to collect feathers from a pillow after the wind blew them away. The media wants to now pretend that after years of calling people Nazis and justifying violence against such people had no impact, even if the initial accusations are know to be bullshit.
