Faster muting is the least benificial skilling event.
Faster muting speeds up the process, but it comes with a sizable discount to prof earned. It is not favorable for those trying to earn prof, only those purley focused on essence production. The bottleneck in ranking up is access to mutable items not the speed of muting them.
In contrast faster glyphing/suffusing/cooking/fishing allow you to skill at higher levels than you would normally be able to perform at your rank. The increased speed provides an added cushion of saftey.

During faster muting events, do you mute below you station to get better upgrades? Basically if you can mute Tier X (level 35 normally and it takes more time, but during a faster transmuting event try to mute Tier VIII (level 25) items at faster speed to ensure greater success rate of completing those items, or even Tier VI for example?
Basically you keep items at your Mute level in vault but mute lower tier faster and if a 1006 happens you lose nothing great.
