Come on dude, you're basing your scientific beliefs off religion. You think everyone can easily do it because they're "gods children". That instantly voids your opinion.

Everyone can do this, but not everyone knows Jesus and knows this truth. I forgive you for not understanding this as well, but when it is your word vs the truth God speaks over one's life it becomes a very one sided argument. God doesn't lie.

Oof, someone forgot 10% users can't post in PaRD. Seems you get a few things wrong.

Don't worry, we all do.

Clearly you can't post there this instant. but keep your religious bs in pard.

It is not against the rules to talk about Jesus outside of PaRD. I'm not a fan of religion either btw. Notice how in previous posts I mention a specific name vs a type of religion. You won't see me entertain that subject, but I will align what I say with the truth over your life and anybody else that cares to give what I say the attention.

Ah, now I see some personal attacks. At no point was I bring foul. There is countless testimonies and truth in the fact that all of God's children have the strength to overcome these simple things labeled as "impossible to defeat addictions"

But you go ahead and call people with that understanding "d****"

Moving on now since you can't keep composure to remain in civil discussion.

Ok so how would you " convince " a heroin addict to get sober if they had been doing heroin for 6 years.

Just tell them " Yeah bro just quit "

I feel like this idea makes no sense.

I'm not here to convince you, just stating a fact. Idk what gave you the impression that any user on this forum is inclined to take up the responsibility to convince you out of your self made problems. You seeking the attention on any form of social media for pity, sympathy, or convincing is not something you need. I would encourage you get alone with the lord as he is the best option for any worldly thing in front of you.

The most tone deaf - daft reply to OP's thread.
The brains chemistry simply doesn't work like that, unfortunately.

I'm pushing 14 years sober (you can do it OP!) but it's not something you "beat". The battle that it starts as doesn't stay so hard, but there's the constant vigilance that a slip up can come, and more frustratingly, is how easy it is to substitute the bad tendencies with new things.

In the end, I've learned that all addicts are addicted to the same thing - more - and becoming self aware to seeing when we're falling into that pattern takes time. Avoid the dopamine hits, sit in that silence and find the peace after the grief, then you'll find the vibrance and enjoyment in everything else. Also, more difficult to accept - don't expect celebration or acceptance if bridges have been burnt. That's the hardest part to deal with, is even if you full 180 and make full improvement in your life, there will always be some that have made you the villain in their minds.

Breathe, mediate, grieve and truly feel the emotions. It gets better after they're confronted

The story of the cow and the buffalo

They both sense a storm approaching

The cow will run from the storm, becoming exhausted and depleted, but the storm reaches the cow no matter how long or far he runs and is engulfed in the storm

The buffalo will run into the storm, bracing himself and taking it head on, soon the storm passes the buffalo and he is able to enjoy what the storm has brought him - water, grass, life

I don’t think you understand addiction or addicts

But if you never were personal around an addict

Or alcoholic for 1 or 2 years or more

You might not get it

There is a lot more nuance to 50% of addicts and alcoholics quitting drugs and alcohol than “just do it”

And “just go to god”

Some people it takes getting up in the court system and going to jail (where your only chance is to get sober) and then reporting to a parole officer or probation officer.

And even then some people can’t get sober, they buy fake piss and then get busted by their parole officer / etc and end up doing more time in jail then have to get sober eventually because they are literally getting piss tested for drugs.

A one size fits all “just stop”

Or “just seek god and that will do it “

Probably doesn’t work for 50% or more of addicts
