Over 50+ mistakes in that vid, but I'll try to help you guys understand the basics so you have a glimpse at the huge bullshit mrllama just vomited in there...
He said, imbue diadems at clvl 8
The reason he thinks that's good is because the hidden bonus magic lvl of diadems (mlvl 18) is changing how the affix lvl formula is determined.
Alvl formula
IF (Mlvl > 0)
THEN Alvl = MAX(ilvl;qlvl) + Mlvl -> this is what we use in this case cuz diadems have indeed an mlvl
ELSE IF (MAX(ilvl;qlvl)<(99-INT(qlvl/2))
THEN Alvl = (MAX(ilvl;qlvl)-INT(qlvl/2))
ELSE Alvl = (2*MAX(ilvl;qlvl)-99))
Item / Mlvl
Circlet / 3
Coronet / 8
Tiara / 13
Diadem / 18
Sorceress Orb / 1
Staff / 1
Non-Elite Wand / 1
So, imbuing at clvl 8 a diadem qlvl 85?
yeah you get to roll an alvl equal to qlvl+mlvl in this case
85+18=103 -> capped at 99
the highest affixes on a diadem are alvl 90, so yeah, you can roll all of them.
The problem?
The imbue from clvl 8 is still only ilvl 12 (clvl+4)
This means that the diadem is restricted to a maximum of 1 open socket, as long as it is still below ilvl 26.
Even if it rolls the Mechanic's prefix, instead of having 50% chance to be 1 or 2 os, it now has 100% chance to be only 1os.
And that affix alone is one of the most important/wanted one.
Now, does that mean that imbuing a diadem at clvl 22+ to make sure it's ilvl 26+ is a good idea?
Nope.
As I initially stated, if you imbue something that you can gamble as fast as you can click, you're completely missing the point of the imbue quest.
Wasting your imbue quest on that diadem is the exact same thing as right clicking 10 times (because 1/10 are rare) on a circ in the gamble window once you are clvl 92+
What else did he say... "The higher your clvl, the higher your chances to get a good item"
Hell... no. NOOOOO!
Imbuing is a nice tool to have control over which affixes will be availed to roll on a given item.
There's a bunch of unwanted affixes on all items.
For exemple, some of the highest valuable items in the game are gg rare eth weapons.
Those weapons need mods such as : 300%ed, fool's or an extra 150%ed+ar, 2os, self-rep, 40ias
All those affixes are alvl 56 and under.
And guess what?
If you imbue, for example, an eth berserker axe at clvl 8
That zerker with qlvl 85 and an ilvl as low as 12 can already roll all affixes up to alvl 71.
Let's go back to the Alvl formula...
IF (Mlvl > 0)
THEN Alvl = MAX(ilvl;qlvl) + Mlvl
ELSE IF (MAX(ilvl;qlvl)<(99-INT(qlvl/2))
THEN Alvl = (MAX(ilvl;qlvl)-INT(qlvl/2))
ELSE Alvl = (2*MAX(ilvl;qlvl)-99)) -> now this is where we are... (2*85)-99=71
If you were to follow mrllama's advice, "The higher your clvl, the higher your chances to get a good item", each extra lvl up you waited in hopes of getting a better item would only unlock more and more unwanted affixes that greatly reduce your chances at a real good item in the end.
I'll stop there... It would take too long to go over all the nonsense that was said in that video.
Simply refer to my first post for an easy guideline if you don't want to learn all the logic behind it.
