It's tens of thousands of years ago, maybe one hundred thousand, and an idea comes to you pressing you to try the milk from a cow or goat. Imagine being that very first person to experience that. And, then, being the very first person who tries to convince members of your tribe or others who pass-by to try cow/goat milk. You have got some serious upselling to do on that.

After domestication of animals, seeing animals drink mother's milk same way himan babies do, it was probably common sense.
I assume it might've been used for human babies in case mother couldn't lactate properly or enough.
