that %ed to demons is not calculated for the weapon damage.
Its global damage add... like the might aura

The maximum damage calculations:

297% ed + 110% demons = 407% ed

407% ed times 179 base = 907 damage

907 damage multiplied by 7.64 (fort + might aura + 120/45 helm + strength) = 6933

6933 times 2 for crit from Lo rune and times 2 for amp = 27,734

Jab is 2 hits so times 2 again = 55,468 max damage possible jab

Thats maximum possible merc damage it can do by itself un-assisted





The minimum damage is

52 damage base times 407% = 263 damage
Multilplied by 7.64 = 2009
times 2 for jab two hits = 4018






TOTAL DAMAGE JAB MERC UN-ASSISTED = 4018 - 55,468 actual damage

In my opinion, definately a trophy item on d2r, idc that its only 20% ias, its in a fast base to begin with

This thing hits harder than ebotd, and is in a base that cant make ebotd

About item, nice collection weapon for PLAYER no Merc ofc,
If 40ias and something more usefull rolled than %DtD and 5%Amp
honestly exactly those ruined the yellow item.

Yellow Weapon = PvP in 99% cases
Yellow 2h weapon 100%
Amp = Banned

As was said, 400-450% Ed instead 290-300% Fools is better in here.
2 Sockets or maybe some +skills amazon skills or so would be cool,
as its hyperion spear and spears in diablo are amazon weapons.
(Charge paladin fun would be better base Ghost Spear or War Pike ofc
as those are max range adder bases tho and max dmg from spears)
Now its 0/10 Trophy and about mercenary Act2 rating its like 5/10 weapon,
when you got RW/UNIQUE specials for Act2 jabber merc.
Its been two decades of years ppl played this already.

My rate in here is No Trophy and No Merc usage tho.
When you upload pics of Rws & Unique A2 Merc weapons you will understand it.

I don't. You 1.14 spawns who don't know the difference between the 'Cruel' and 'Fools' modifier are beyond annoying. A rare weapon can have multiple % ED modifiers on it. A 'cruel' plus 'masters' rare weapon is something that started being able to spawn on 1.10+ rare weapons and truly changed the way people looked at rare weapons.

Attack rating was seen as a useless modifier before 1.10 - especially in pvp - because of the 'eth bug' where people would socket an eth rune in their weapon and cause their opponent to have -15% of their entire defense. Not just losing 15% off their entirety, but going 15% below 0. So the 'Fools' modifier was absolutely a useless modifier before the 1.10 changes when defense became a useful stat for the first time in LoD.

While you are technically correct, the cruel mod is 200-300ed. However, when people refer to a weapon being a “cruel” weapon, they are referring to a weapon with cruel + masters mod which gives it up to
450ed.
When people refer to a fools weapon, they are referring to a weapon with cruel + fools mod which is up to 300 Ed and .5 max damage per level / 16.33 AR per level.

The big issue with this is that the damage to demons doesn’t count as on weapon ED%. That demon damage takes a prefix slot which could be used for 2 sockets, of which a second Lo rune or a 40ed/15max jewel or a 40ed/15jewel or Ber rune which would be significantly more damage than the ~100% demon damage.

No matter how you slice this, this weapon isn’t better than easy to get options such as ebotd and wasily outclassed by a basic 30+ ias/400+ ED eth weapon , which is extremely easy to get.

The math picker laid out is littered with incorrect statements.

I'm absolutely correct.

When people call 400%+ ED weapons "cruel" or "cruels" (even more stupid) - they are referring to a weapon having the cruel + masters modifier, incorrectly forgetting the masters modifier.

Also, I said absolutely nothing about the % ED to demons. So although you absolutely are correct about this - I don't see why you're informing me of this when I didn't mention the OP's garbage tier math. Only the idiotic "needs croooool mod" comments were addressed in my reply.

I cannot stand the people who can't grasp this concept. It's one of the first things I put in my profile notes years ago, even. It's okay to not have played before 1.10, but to just not acknowledge the modifiers and what they are on items is just retarded.

the irony is that the term "cruel" wasn't a new thing created by 1.14 spawns, it goes back to 1.09 patch where cruel weps were often used with 3x jewels to get well over the base 300 ed. afterwhich fools + cruels weapons joined the meta, and were called "fools" to set them apart.

greater than 300 ed rare weps are "cruels", up to 300 ed w/ fools mod are "fools". and always have been since 1.10.
