So recently I got a new PC. Much better and more current than my old one. So far everything has been running great with no issues, except for Skyrim.
I've always had an Ultra wide monitor, 3440x1440 I'm pretty sure. Used to be able to run Skyrim with no issues. Now, no matter what I set my scaling and resolution to, it's never full screen. And by that I don't mean it runs in windowed mode, it's "full" screen but the game doesn't fill the entire screen. I have these huge black bars on the side.
The only aspect ratios I'm able to choose from are 4:3, 16:9, and 16:10. They're all basically the same. There's barely a difference from 4:3 and 16:9. I have no idea what my settings were set to before, as I'm pretty sure when I'd go to run the game through steam, it would just run. Now it first opens a window where I can either click Play to start the game or go to options to change graphics settings.
I've looked online and people are saying they can get it to work using multiple different programs and editing files and stuff. My issue is I shouldn't have to do any of that as it was fine in the past with the same monitor.
Anyone else ever experience this and know how to actually fix it without having to download a bunch of programs and crap?
Btw, when I first installed and ran the game on this new pc, it started off in actual full screen, but I had to mess with settings because I realized the game was zoomed in and I couldn't see my carry weight or other info in my inventory. Now I can't even get it back to that mode.
I also for some reason had to turn down my monitor refresh rate from 144hz down to 60hz just so I could get past the opening scene. Never had that issue ever before when running this same monitor.
