None of the sticky topics are useful, I don't need to know how to post an item, I need to know how to actually trade or buy an item.

When I list an item for sale on this forum, how do I ensure that the buyer actually gets it, and someone else doesn't snipe it from the market? I'm confused how items are transferred.

Unfortunately you can never guarantee the buyer is going to get the item while using the market place. There is always a chance of sniping.

Typically, you will use some form of instant messaging or discord (or as last result, PM messages while both available and not distracted).
Coordinate putting the item up on the market place for a specific price, during this time you will also enter the exact stats of the item in the marketplace filters, and using the instant messaging the seller can let you know the moment it goes up for sale so you can press 'search.'
As stated above, using the market place there is generally always a chance of having the item sniped - ESPECIALLY - if you don't do the trade for what the item is actually valued. I.E. some people will put the item up vs. 1 fg which imo is incredible risky.

Some folks will intentionally join guilds just for trading purposes (through guild vault) which is 100% guaranteed to go between you and the seller with no snipes.
However, you wont be able to do the trade this way in a lot of cases - it is up to the guild staff members, etc.

Also wanted to mention that selling a good item for 1 fg will most likely get sniped (unless the timing is perfect with the buyer) and postung an item for cheaper than its actual value is the 2nd most likely chance for it to get sniped.

Following is an example of a trade from the trade forum section that you are selling:

You post in trade forum an item @ 5k fg BIN.
Buyer Bins Item
... In threads every username and that can be seen to the left side of their post... FG and a way to MSG them... also, if they are ONLINE or not.

So... it that user is still online, you can msg them directly (PM), while waiting for a response, create a game for trading, however, if you are in a guild, make it Guild only until you get a response.

In your PM to the Buyer, give a link for them to privately message you in game (on LS) when they are on, and then use /r Blah, Blah to talk to them... this is private, no one else online can see this message, even if you are in a group game.

Make arrangements of trade... or make a date/time to trade... even in a game to trade, always private message them.

Easy as that... PM time/date, as for in game at the same time, use /msg *username blah or /r blah if that person contacts you first.

This stops sniping, however it is not full proof, as the buyer may make some conditions, you agree, they private msg a friend to snipe without you even knowing it, then says they did not get it because someone sniped it... nothing is 100% full proof.

Just put the item up for the agreed upon price....pay the fee instead of trying to circumvent it.....

If someone else buys it instead....we'll then the buyer should have placed a more competitive offer...the seller still gets the agreed sale price.

This is my perspective as well.
