Despite the fact d4 is pure grabage game and complete failure in every aspect, I personally still think you are a cool guy and heard a lot of positive feedback from your colleagues!

So I wish you all the best!

::generates over $1Bil, considered failure::
::over 150k DAU, considered failure::
::has ability to make people who 'dislike' the game, not shut up about it, considered failure::

See where I'm going here bud? I'm sorry the game hurt ya, but you're probably gonna need to go ahead and give your balls a tug and move on.

I understand you are mad my son, because d4 is bad, but:

::generates over $1Bil, considered failure:: - No doubt d4 made some profit, but I heard it had big budget and especially, big marketing budget, not sure if blizz made solid positive saldo there.

::over 150k DAU, considered failure:: - these numbers are straight up fake, no idea why you misinform people. But anyway, even if it is true this doesn't look good for modern blizzard game.

::has ability to make people who 'dislike' the game, not shut up about it, considered failure:: - Well that's becuase it is latest diablo installment by the way, and guess what - it is pure garbage.
Imagine mobile pay-to-win diablo based gacha with more content and classes, how about that?

Overall, I was talking about game itself and wonderful man Rod, who just left the company. This topic is not allowed also?

Obviously it had big bugget, but in gaming world even largest projects have budget just over 200m USD. They are still running the game as live service, still operating servers, already developed 1 expansion, but I doubt that combined cost of all of that exceeded 500m USD.
And D4 has already made well over 2B so they got their money back.

150k DAU is obviously fake, even as the season average the number is way too low. You get ~40k players just on Steam at the start of the season, and I doubt Steam accounts even for 1% of the player base. D4 was realeased on Steam months after everyone already bought the game. I personally dont know anyone who plays on Steam, everyone is on B.net or PS or xbox.
Blizzard used to send emails with info about monsters killed and season things done in early season, and from there one could deduce about ~300m hours played total in a season. So my guess always was that there are about 3m active players (like 100h per season thing).

I doubt about 2B number, but as for costs was thinking about somewhere 500m too. Well I don't deny d4 made profit, but more interesting what d4 is now as a game.

He left blizzard, but I think he said he will continue his career somewhere else.
