EU and UK are just posturing at this point
Recognizing Palestine as a nation won't do any good because the US wants Israel to clean house in the region.

Ah the classic misdirect.
You only have to read the article to find that there is hunger & starvation in gaza though.

And no international body has officially declared a famine in Gaza. The international body we have for this sort of thing is the IPC (International Food Security Phase Classicification) and FEWS NET (Famine Early Warning Systems Network). They basically on a scale of 1-5 (where 5 is famine) place Gaza on 4.
Here's the stages
Stage 1)
Normal condition
Stage 2)
Communiteis are stressed but still eating enough, households strgugle to afford essentials
Stage 3)
Crisis. People have trouble finding food skip meals, many turn to short term survival tactics that undermine long term survivability (selling of livestock ect)
Stage 4)
Emergency. Food gaps widen and people resort to "really extreme forms of coping" (liquidating all assets or eating seeds needed for future planting.) Excess deaths and acute malnutrition rises.
Stage 5)
Famine. Three criteria must be met for this stage to be reached.
-20% of households face catastrophe (extreme lack of food)
-30% of children under 5 suffers from acute malnutrition or wasting
-2 out of 10,000 (at least) die each day from non-trauma causes. Hunger usually kills not through starvation but by weakening the immune system so much a common cold can kill you.

FEWS place 44% of the population (925,000) in Emergency and 12% are in Catastrophe (244,000) or experiencing famine.

Here's the kicker. FEWS and IPC cannot officially declare famine because they do not have access to Gaza. Why? Guess why. Israel doesn't allow it.

WFP (world food programme) director Jean-Martin Bauer says as follows
Quote
In conflict zones, collecting reliable data, espcially on non-trauma mortality often proves difficult. This means lack of data can hinder an official classification of famine. By the time famine is declared, people are already dying.

Why haven't they placed Gaza in 5 it's because they have no access to Gaza because israel denies it.

a wall of text...

a mistaken photo doesn't mean there's no famine.

Okay

a wall of text...

a mistaken photo doesn't mean there's no famine.

There’s no famine in Gaza- the truth is out, and it’s clear this was propaganda from the start. You’re just struggling to climb down from the narrative you were so quick to believe.

So the international bodies that you claim have not declared famine is for the whole of gaza, but they do declare that some are experiencing famine. So what are you talking about. To live up to the standards set they cannot declare famine for the whole of gaza because they are not allowed in.
So i'm not struggling with anything here it's clear for all to see. Why don't you spend 1 minute to actually read the "wall of text" that i wrote.

The international bodies you’re referring to are basing their assessments on reports from the very same groups that circulated the misleading photo of the child the one later clarified to have had pre-existing medical conditions. If that’s your source of truth, it explains how speculation turned into “famine” headlines without verification.

"The evidence we chose to support our claim has turned out to be a brazen lie... but this doesn't mean that our claim was wrong."

Let's be honest: would France and now the UK have moved toward recongnizing the statehood of Palestine without those harrowing images dominating the news cycle? Hell no. Will they take it back, now that the proximal cause of their move has been discredited? Nope.

This conflict is not just fought on the ground in Gaza, it's also a global propaganda battle, a battle over public opinion. And Hamas just scored a major victory in this battle because they pushed deliberately and brazenly misleading pictures which were uncritically picked up and disseminated by the feckless MSM, and because Western liberals were all too willing to believe the blood libel. This is a major scandal and summarizes everything which is wrong with the political left in this day and age. Brushing all of this to the side with "oh well, shit happens... but we're still right" doesn't really cut it.
