The sanctions on Russia and destruction of Nord Stream have crippled the EU while the EU has no recourses of it's own. Now the hens are coming home to roost.
The EU needs the US more than ever, for weapons that the EU cannot get anywhere else. It would take decades to build up a military industrial complex comparable to that of the US.
