Sorry for the long post:
While watching a series, one of the main characters visits some elders in a very small town in Scotland. The way that the town folk chew each other out with truly award winning insults and with sledgehammer-like swear words are refreshing. Due to their honest and Olympic medal orneriness, their slinging of swear words and insults are not even offensive as these folk are honest. I grew up in an environment where everyone walks on eggshells. That kind of environment is a soul sucking environment. I sometimes wish that family and friends just blurted out in as honest and ornery fashion as is possible what they thought. We would be surprised and laugh and I would be in awe of how much of a competitive art insults and orneriness can be. Oh, well. We cannot change the past. I will try to be ornery as f*** for the remainder of my life.
