Your caution is confusion. It's fine to believe that globalization is bad but it's not good to be misunderstanding what tariffs are. Looking forward to you never correcting yourself when you learn what is actually happening

"Tariffs are just a tax on domestic consumers. Regurgitating liberal talking points make me so much smarter than all the right-wing rabble!!!1"

It's not a liberal or right wing thing, let go of your ego. I support domestic production, I simply don't support lying or misinformation from either side

Tariffs are not "just a tax on domestic consumers". It is true that American importers pay the tax to the US gov, this is verifiable because you literally fill out a form to pay the US gov at port of entry. The person paying the money is the US importer, not the Japanese exporter

In theory, this means more consumers will buy US goods because American importers would have to charge more to sell foreign goods. That part is being mislabeled as "Japan pays the tariff". Saying that Japan pays the tariff distracts from the fact that US consumers are losing access to cheap goods, and prices are likely to rise.

It's hard to get people to support tariffs if you allow them to understand that it leads to inflation

Here's a simple analogy

I am buying ber runes on D2JSP and you are selling ber runes.

Njaguar says that if you want to sell ber runes to me, then I have to pay an extra 20% FG to d2jsp

As a result, I buy less ber runes from you because it costs me more. Instead, I buy from another guy because I don't have to pay 20% extra to JSP if I buy from them

---

Trump says you are paying the 20% FG tax in this analogy. Are you really? I'd argue you aren't paying the tax, because you could sell your ber runes to someone else

I mean if Japanese can now buy cheaper materials due to less levy on them from America and make a cheaper Japanese vehicle I'm all for it. Fuck American car manufacturers they can pay that 25% for Canada and Mexico materials and parts while Japan enjoys 15%.

I'm for it, no need for total American manufacturerd trash anyways.

Yep it's trashy now.

Our last hold out the gen2 Tundra and Sequoia made in Indiana with the notorious million mile engine was refreshed into a smart turd with wheels.

Edit: big factors driving this are regulations, corporate profits, and decline in right to repair rights and advocacy- my 2cents

Unfettered free trade has been a disaster, imho; globalization would work better for everyone involved if there are blanket 15% tariffs.

What this basically says is "outsourcing should only be considered if it can provide an efficiency gain of significantly over on sixth".

That makes sense for countries with significantly lower wages.
I don't see danger of outscourcing in trade between the the EU, USA and Japan.

What's also a problem is that we just don't have to workforce to produce everything.

He's probably just dragged down by the Epstein stuff right now. If this scandal eventually dies down, he should be fine.
