How are your views you write here meaningfully differentiated from woke?

This is literally woke. Calling everything racist and using it as an excuse to destroy cultural heritage. Demonizing political opposition using meaningless cult buzzwords such as "authoritarian", as if the President doesnt have authority?

Trump literally threatened to revoke the construction permit for their new stadium if they don't change their name. That's a genuinely authoritarian (and petty) move by Trump.
Likewise, I'm not calling everything racist or condoning the destruction of cultural heritage, I'm pointing out that the Washington football team - unlike for example the Chiefs - have no meaningful connection to native tribes. And that's on top of "redskins" being a far more offensive term than 'chiefs'.


My views are based on the merits of the case while you are just reflexively partisan.

Idk if DTJ Jr. notices that JD Vance is memed into this lol.. hilarious either way

The president of the United States should have better things to do with his time than throwing the weight of the federal government around to force a local sports team to change its freaking name, but what do I know.
When it comes to the authoritarian dimension, I would argue that using this kind of leverage to force the president's will onto others is a move which should only be used in pursuit of meaningful policy goals, rather than singular, symbolic, petty causes.

And like I've said: while the lefty activists cry wolf all the time, the Redskins are a case where the woke criticism at least had some tiny grain of truth to it. Not enough to warrant the original name change if you ask me, but it still doesn't make for the ideal case to symbolically fight back against wokism.




To be perfectly clear: I would (very marginally) prefer the Commanders to change their name back to Redskins, but this goal is not nearly important enough to justify the federal government breaking a fly on the wheel like that. It isn't even important enough to warrant the president's attention full stop. If this stance makes me a "woke cuck" in your eyes, so be it.

Redskins was a good name. They chose to listen to a segment of woke whites and some natives over a significant other part of natives that had no issue with the name or were pro. You can't appease everybody and if you try you end up with what current movies have become. Politically 'safe and inclusive' movies that have to have the entire spectrum of lgbbq or races or conveyer belt marvel slop that's shallow and honestly unwatchable.
