I’ve been playing CS on and off for years, but only recently started looking into skin trading — and I gotta say, this whole system feels kinda cursed sometimes lol.
Like, how is it that a game full of cheaters also has skins worth more than some people’s cars? I saw a Karambit go for over 100k and the guy still queued into Mirage with 4 spinbotters. Bro what are we even doing here 😭
Also, every time I try to list something on the market or trade with someone, it feels like I need to do background checks and call my lawyer. Fake bots, impersonators, scam sites — it’s like trying to trade in the middle of a minefield.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m still having fun — finally unboxed something decent (Battle-Scarred lol but still my first knife), and it kinda gave me the itch to dive deeper. But damn, Valve really made a system where the economy is somehow more intense than the actual game.
Am I just being dramatic or is this a shared experience?
Would love to hear if any of y’all had weird first-time trading stories or tips to not get scammed instantly 😅

Here’s my story: I was just using the marketplace like usual when I got a trade rejection on Steam. I was like, “Huh, what’s up?” but by the time it clicked, it was too late. The marketplace said I got scammed and they ain’t to blame. Now I don’t trust nobody, checkin’ profiles a million times before tradin’. If it’s a trading platform, I install their browser app, but even that ain’t a 100% guarantee. Trust yourself and think twice, man
